Development Coordinator

Position Description

CORE FUNCTION

The core function of this role is to support fundraising operations by implementing administrative and fundraising processes in order to strengthen organizational revenue.

KEY OUTCOMES & ACTIVITIES
OUTCOME 1 – Designs and implements organizational flow by maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Maintains donor data in Salesforce, ensuring donors are acknowledged appropriately and reports are run accurately.
• Processes and deposits all incoming cash and check donations as well as invoicing for donations.
• Track and renew annual organizational subscriptions, permits, licenses, and other administrative filings to include submitting the annual non-profit solicitation licenses, BBB, Chairty Wise, SECC and CFC applications.
• Processes all incoming and outgoing CFS mail.
OUTCOME 2 – Enhances efficiency by managing office systems that support daily operations.
• Serve as the first point of contact for phone calls, walk-ins, and general inquiries.
• Maintains office supply inventory and promotional inventory (flyers, brochures, swag) and places orders as needed.
OUTCOME 3 – Increase organizational visibility through targeted outreach initiatives.
• Serve as a key ambassador in the community to promote Canines for Service’s mission and grow philanthropic partnerships
• Create and deliver presentations and informational sessions for community groups and stakeholders
• Manage outreach schedules, speaking engagements, and community event participation.
• Engage the Outreach & Communications Coordinator, Development Director and other key staff in speaking engagements and outreach as needed.

OUTCOME 4 – Support fundraising goals through partnership‑driven revenue opportunities
• Develop and maintain relationships with Civic groups to meet annual fundraising goals in this category
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 2 years of fundraising experience is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

PREFERRED
• Experience with Salesforce or donor databases preferred.
• Experience working in a nonprofit environment; veteran-focused or disability service background is a plus.

REQUIREMENT FOR ALL POSITIONS
All positions are expected to identify and appropriately collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
· Must maintain a valid driver’s license that is acceptable to Canines for Services’ general liability insurance carrier and must maintain their own automobile insurance for the duration of employment. This requirement will be governed by and enforced under the organization’s Employee Handbook.
· Must be able to successfully pass and maintain any required background checks, including criminal and, where job-related, financial or credit screening.
· Must be able to lift forty pounds and safely and comfortably handle active large breed dogs weighing up to ninety pounds.
