Meet the veterans whose lives have been transformed through the healing power of a service dog. These stories capture the journey from struggle to strength, and the unconditional loyalty found in every partnership.
U.S. Navy Veteran, Jay, was partnered with CFS service dog, Ruby, in December of 2023. Ruby was trained to alert Jay to his pacing and anxious behaviors.
U.S Army Veteran, Meg, was partnered with CFS service dog, Skye, in November 2023. Skye was trained to support Meg by alerting to various alarms, retrieval of items, and providing deep pressure therapy to ease anxiousness.
U.S. Navy Veteran Ryan once believed life outside the walls of his home was far beyond his reach. He was missing moments with his wife and children as he coped with feelings of anxiety and hyper vigilance.
U.S. Navy Veteran Barbara Joseph partnered with her service dog, Carson, in May 2025.

U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Josh, received his service dog, Lucille, in April 2024. When Josh applied to receive a service dog, he rarely left the house and hadn’t traveled since leaving the military in 2007.
U.S. Air Force Veteran, Marty, received his service dog, Maverick, in September 2024. When Marty first applied to receive a service dog, he was having multiple nightmares a week.
U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Allen, and his CFS service dog, Marcus, became a team in March 2019. Marcus has accompanied Allen on a variety of adventures over the years
U.S. Navy Veteran, Tiffany, received her service dog, Smokey, in June 2024. Smokey performs important tasks for her such as bracing to assist with standing, retrieving objects, and interrupting behaviors.

Canines for Service began in 1996 and has helped veterans who deal with many kinds of conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and even mobility limitations.
