Ways to Volunteer
Join us in supporting Veterans—one act of service at a time.
Serve with Purpose. Volunteer with Heart.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether you’re walking dogs, fostering a future service dog, or pitching in with a group, your time and talents directly impact the lives of Veterans and the dogs who serve them.
Foster Volunteers
Open your home and heart to a service dog in training. Fosters play a vital role in early socialization and foundational skills. We provide training, supplies, and full support—you provide love and consistency.
- Weekend: Foster an adult dog from Friday night to Monday morning
- Drop-off: Pick up and drop off an assigned dog to the facility at least 4 days a week and keep them in your home during nights and weekends
- Puppy: Commit to a 3 month foster with a puppy. Weekly training class required.
- Respite: Foster one of our puppies for a short period. Duration can vary.
Canines for Therapy
Our Canines for Therapy teams offer comfort and connection wherever they go. If your dog is calm, well-mannered, and enjoys meeting people, you could be a great fit for our Canines for Therapy program. These certified teams visit hospitals, schools, libraries, and other public spaces to provide comfort and companionship.
- Available in Wilmington and Raleigh-Durham, NC.
